How to get the most out of gaming conventions. As a veteran of literally thousands of conventions, I'll discuss in great detail my insight and philosophy on how you can get the most out of a con. The pitfalls that many fall into, & just in general how to streamline a good time!

Dungeoneering Philosophy 101

Whether you’re playing out of the little white box, the Basic Set, 1st Edition, 2nd Edition, 3rd Edition (or 3.5), Pathfinder, or 4th edition, dungeons come into the game. But dungeons mean different things to different people. I plan on taking a rather old school approach—but even the meaning of that term varies depending on who you ask. So, I thought it valuable to share the assumptions I’m making as I design the dungeons?

What We're Cooking

On the whole, I can honestly say that when I started this project – Savage Sorcery, Campaign Cookbook, The Pentad Cycle, of Men & Monsters, Tales Untold – I had no idea what I would be getting myself into. Fortunately, I realized that I was in over my head shortly after there was enough noise about the project that it would be impossible to back down gracefully. I had proposed an ambitious play, and the other players on the field wanted to make it happen, and now I had to carry the ball all the way.

Serving up a helping of RPG......

Author: Dra8er

The face of RPG blogging has changed drastically over the last several years, the early days of blogging on the topic have given way to many voices, some of them boisterous, some comical, while others are profound. It seems there are a million RPG bloggers, so what make this one different? Perhaps nothing, or perchance something. Take a look and I think you'll agree, there is something here to for you to chew on.

RPGs have a long history with a large and engaged fan community. It’s clear that there’s more RPG content online now than ever, because it has gotten a little easier and more entertaining to write and share that writing. Less arcane protocols are now required for a gamer to share a good idea. That makes for a better overall gaming environment.

Gamers have always been a smart, chatty, and opinionated bunch. Blogs make it easier for the brightest and chattiest among us to gather an audience and hold forth on reviews, opinion, game mechanics, social problems of gaming, advice columns, blowhard pontification, and insightful industry commentary.

And yet… There’s a problem. Sturgeon’s law assures us that 90% of everything is crap, and that applies to our beloved RPG blogs as well (well, technically, Sturgeon’s law applies to everything). Filtration is so very important with any community. The hardest part is finding the best bloggers. Well, you just found them right here in the Campaign Cookbook!

This ever growing collection of RPG gaming articles will showcase some of the finest blogging the RPG blogosphere has to offer. First off I think you’ll find the blog posts are just a tad shinier and our presentation a bit more polished than our fellow RPG wordsmiths. By presentation, I mean that they are better edited and laid out than most other blogs.

So gather round and feast your eyes on what we have to offer...
